Future Technology Leaders from Korca Design Technology Solutions with Social Impact

After an intensive online journey, in a truly special open session, five visionary young people from Korça—participants in the project “Empaowring Future Technology Leaders from Korça,” sponsored by the Smile.al platform—put their training into practice.

In this open session, the focus shifted from theory to practice, concentrating on designing a technology solution with social impact.

Methodology: Human-Centered Design (HCD)

At the core of the work were the principles of human-centered design. By empathetically analyzing the needs of the elderly, the aim was to break digital barriers through an intuitive interface. The brainstorming process was guided toward identifying functionalities that maximize accessibility and ease of use (UX—User Experience).

Prototyping in Figma

From paper sketches, the process moved into Figma. The use of this industry-standard tool enabled the creation of initial prototypes, with a focus on the following:

Visual Hierarchy: To facilitate navigation.

Inclusive Design: Visual elements adapted for high visibility.

Architecture with React Native

To make the idea more tangible, the technical implementation was discussed using React Native. The team analyzed how their designs in Figma would translate into reusable components, ensuring performance and full responsiveness across iOS and Android platforms.

Collaboration during this implementation brought new energy to the group, demonstrating that when young people’s determination and the desire to support the community come together, no challenge is insurmountable. This session proved that the best solutions emerge where people truly understand each other and work together.
